Reading Between the Lines: What Her Profile Really Says About Her
One of the biggest challenges we face using dating sites in the UK is how to get the truth out of a woman’s profile. While obviously there’s going to be some fate and chance about who you message and whether or not you’ll click with a woman, you also don’t want to waste your time talking to people who you realize aren’t for you at all. Just like reading nonverbal cues about people in real life based on body language, tone of voice and attitude, a profile can have the same qualities. There are certain giveaways in a woman’s profile that should have you running for the hills, and there are other traits that indicate she’s a good person to try your charms on. Here are a few of the better tip offs we’ve encountered that led to at least a decent conversation with a woman, if not a full blown date.
Her Profile Picture: Actions Speak Louder than Words
We know profile pictures can’t talk, but when we say “action,” we mean her physical stance. What is she doing in her profile picture? Just like men, women try to put their best face forward to the online dating world by taking a flattering, but also accurate, picture that represents their appearance. The thing is, everyone knows that you can’t put a glamour or head shot up on a dating site, because it’s obvious you’re not going to look the same in real life. However, profile pictures that aren’t glossy can say a lot. If a woman is making duck lips in her picture, for example, she’s the type that loves to pose or party. This might mean she’s fun, but it can also mean she’s conceited. Proceed with caution. A woman’s picture that shows her smiling on vacation might mean she’s a little boring and not trying that hard to come off as sexy. While that can be fine, take it with a grain of salt. The best profile picture is one where she’s smiling, a little dolled up, and looks friendly. That’s the profile picture you want to pay attention to.
Her Self-description
This is the most obvious gauge of what she’s like, but there are a few major points in every self-description that you can watch out for. If she immediately pokes fun at herself and keeps it light, that’s a good sign – she has a sense of humor. On the other hand, if she goes on a two paragraph essay about why she’s ugly and unlovable, skip it. She’s got major issues you don’t want to deal with.
Interests
This is one of the most exhausting parts of a dating profile for pretty anyone that’s ever been on a dating site. Basically, you don’t want to deal with a woman who takes the time to list every single musical artist, movie, and book she’s ever seen. This falls under the category of trying too hard, and she’s going to be even more over the top in person. Stick to profiles where there’s one or two decent interests, and keep it low key.
